The side path along this Ferntree Gully home had been a narrow strip of lawn, and it was never going to win. Between the shade down the side of the house and a dog who liked digging it up, the owner was left with more mud than grass - and a patch that needed constant work to look even half decent.
She wanted something clean to walk on and, more to the point, something she wouldn't have to keep maintaining. So the grass came out and a proper path went in: the ground stripped back and levelled, weed mat laid the full length, square pavers set as stepping stones down the middle, and crushed rock spread around them and raked level.
